The broad based representation from the Working Group continues to be reflected in the current governance structure. The Trust recognizes that clear, transparent, effective and accountable governance structures, supported by a strong legal framework, increasingly contribute to the prospects of MEET reaching its strategic objectives.
MEET is governed by two Boards. The Board of Trustees confers legal representation to MEET and retains ownership on behalf of the people of Malawi. The Board of Trustees is composed of five members:

  • Enviro-Consultant Ms. Tupalishe Mulwafu Vice Chairperson
  • – Lawyer Dr. Estone Sambo
  • Trustee Mrs. Ivy Kwatiwani
  • Trustee Vacant Trustee
The Board of Trustees is supported by the Board of Governors, who provide management oversight and policy guidance. The Board of Governors is composed of the following eight members:
  • Mr. Lyson Kampira Chairperson National Commission for Science and Technology (NCST)
  • Mr. Lloyd Phiphira Member National Smallholder Farmers Association of Malawi (NASFAM)
  • Mr. Nixon Lita Member TAMA Farmers Trust
  • Ms. Tawonga Mbale-Luka Member Environmental Affairs Department (EAD Vacant Member University of Malawi (UNIMA)
